My story…

Sarah from Moor Dahlias with a large colourful bunch of dahlia flowerse

I’m Sarah…..

I fell in love with Dartmoor when I completed my Duke of Edinburgh Award trek as a teenager and was lucky enough to move to the edge of the moor about 12 years ago. Working in the hospital, my job can be really consuming and for my own well-being, I decided to pursue a long held passion - growing flowers to sell.

So, with the support of my partner, various family members, resident farm cat Whisper and Rosie, the mad spaniel, I planted a small patch of land with fabulous dahlias, in 2024. After a successful first year, which exceeded all expectations, this area has now expanded to half an acre, with hundreds of plants.

So, why dahlias? Years ago, when my children were tiny, my Mum used to bring me a bunch of dahlias whenever she visited. It was something about the kaleidoscope of colours together, like a bag of boiled sweets that always took my breath away. They were so joyful, and I have such fond memories of this time.

Starting this project has been great fun, even if a little muddy, and I have met some lovely people along the way. I’m continually adding more varieties to create spectacular bunches, so join me on social media, or sign up to my newsletter to hear about my progress and when flowers are available.
